My workshops are designed to encourage each writer to claim her/his/their voice. I use a structure and set of promises to encourage a safe and creative space. Workshops are held virtually via Zoom and are not recorded. My workshops are open to writers of all levels, whether you are new to writing or a published author.
We gather together at the start with a poem, image, or song lyric. After brief discussion, I offer my prompts. I think of prompts as desserts on a tray, and thus try to offer a variety…who knows which one will appeal to which writer? Writers work privately for 20-25 minutes. We then gather and share. We focus on giving positive feedback and sharing is optional. After a short break we repeat the process and write and share for a second round. Please come ready to write, please keep camera on during sharing and prompts to encourage our special community.
Story/Poem Critique: If you are interested in sharing a completed piece of your writing for analytical feedback from the group, we will have time to do this during workshop.

Ever wonder about the stories, fragments, or poems caught in your heart and mind? Do you love words? Conversations? Books? Plays? Give yourself the gift of special time, to write. Through writing prompts, silly and serious, and writing sessions, your imagination will be invited to the page. Participants will be encouraged to share their work and offer positive comments to others. Prior creative writing experience is not necessary. Voices from the Beach, the Closet, and the Suitcase
Surrounding us are markers of our life whether in our memory or just a few steps away in the closet. What stories are held in these items or places? What is abandoned which wishes to speak? In a play, props can change the story. Give voice to the books, letters, images, sweaters, keys in your life. Let these props lead the way into a tale of mystery or romance, humor or tragedy, truth or fiction.
In this four week course we will explore unspoken pages, wonder what we ought to record. Give yourself the gift of time to write.
